Happy Fall Y’all

Call me basic (you probably already did when you saw the title of this post) but I LOVE fall! I’ve come to realize I really enjoy the transitional periods between major weather-changing seasons. I love the crisp fall air when you can break out your sweaters and leather boots but the days are still warm enough where your body isn’t in total shock from the temperature change. Although, in Chicago we do tend to get 4 seasons in just one day so you may have already busted out the knits and boots mid-July.

Since this is our first home we may have been a tad bit early with putting up our decor… it was purchased AND went up on August 30th. No regrets here. As you may have established from my previous home posts, everything in our home is pretty neutral. The walls are all the same color gray (is it grey? I never know which to use!) and our pops of color are few and far in between… aside from our tropical bathroom. Seasonal decor is a great way to bring in some different tones you wouldn’t normally decorate with.

I added some burnt orange and dark red colored pillows to our couch along with a brown faux fur throw.

Can’t forget the queen of basic bitches: the LEAVES candle by Bath & Body Works. It’s not fall if you don’t burn the Leaves candle. My holy grail of BBW candles in case you were wondering: Leaves, Flannel, Autumn and Cinnamon Sugared Donut. And how fun is that black candy bowl with the skeleton hands? I keep my remotes in there so that my cute wittle puppy doesn’t think they’re his toys again.

I wanted to focus more on fall decor rather than strictly Halloween pieces that way I can keep everything out until it’s time to decorate for Christmas (is it too soon?).

Thankfully Home Goods is all about the mixed metals like I am because I went to town on the different pumpkins.

And how great is this rose gold pumpkin (Hi it’s me, basic once again)!

This awesome rose gold leaf replaced my boring wooden bowl on our entry table for our keys.

Don’t forget about the fresh fall flowers.. say that 7 times fast. I found that Trader Joe’s always has THE BEST and cheapest flowers. This was a massive bouquet which I split into two and it was only $5.99! I bought the glass vase at Dollar Tree for, you guessed it, $1. Are you proud mom?

What’s your favorite way to decorate? Do you like to add small pops of color like me or are you strictly a skeleton, spiders, spooky, scary Halloween decor fan?

I love how everything looks but to be honest I cannot wait to pack it all away and get going with Christmas decorations! Is it too early to buy ornaments? Nah.
