So you got engaged, had the boozy backyard engagement party (just us?), booked your venue and asked your girls to be bridesmaids… now what? SAVE THE DATES! I actually ordered our save the dates back in November on Cyber Monday which saved us $45 BUT invitation websites are always promoting various discounts. I shopped around before deciding on Minted.com.
Minted has so many designs to choose from. There’s postcards, magnets, coasters, cards, mini books, etc. I chose to go with a postcard design mainly because this option saves SO MUCH money.
I waited to design our save the dates until I had our engagement photos from our photographer so that I could incorporate her gorgeous photos. Minted has a really helpful feature that allows you to upload your photo to see it in all the options at once… trust me this was a timesaver!
Before you place an order for your save the dates I recommend ordering a few extra for mistakes (guilty) and to have a few spares to hang on your fridge and potentially frame for your future gallery wall. I also had my full invite list at this point and narrowed it down to how many save the dates needed to go out… one per household is fine for save the dates and you can get more formal when your actual invites go out requiring individual RSVPs.
I wrote out each address myself because I quite like my penmanship, however, Minted offers free envelope addressing for actual card invitations. They have a feature which allows you to upload your Excel spreadsheet containing names and addresses. I will definitely be using this option when I create my wedding invitations in a few months.
Aside from displaying our engagement photos on a previous blog post, this was my chance to share a few of our favorites with family who may not be on social media to see my excessive posting. Below is the final product!
Yes I know… that is a massive stack of save the dates and my nail polish is growing out. But didn’t they turn out great?! Not shown: the back of the postcard which contains our return address, another cute photo and our wedding website. I am so happy with the design and I hope everyone loves them when they come in the mail in the next few days.
