Our Engagement Photos

Wow it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been on here. HELLO! My last post was about the most perfect day ever,  when Joe proposed to me, and here I am today with our engagement photos!!

So some updates: we have our venue and set the date! I also have my dress, most of the centerpieces made (yes I am DIYing them because I’m a control freak) and we booked our photographer. Luckily my best friend got married over a year ago did all the research SO I booked her photographer, Iron and Honey Photography. Our wedding package included a 90 minute engagement photo shoot. Initially, Joe and I were 100% not interested in taking the cheesy cliche photos of couples holding hands across the railroad tracks and hugs from behind amongst trees and nature. No offense if I just described your engagement photos but those are definitely not our style. We wanted more of a “lifestyle” photo shoot. Our photographer, Melissa, left it up to us for the location so we used my friend’s gorgeous rooftop right on the Lake. After what felt like forever of awkwardly staring into Joe’s eyes (it was only about 30 minutes) we ventured down to a nearby park and then DuSable Harbor and the River walk. I am beyond obsessed with how the photos came out & here are some of our favorites.

How amazing are these photos?! I highly recommend Melissa at Iron and Honey Photography… if these are just our engagement photos I can’t even imagine how gorgeous our wedding photos are going to be!! Oh and yes we did bring our own wine & wine glasses to the photoshoot… we wouldn’t be true to ourselves if we didn’t!
